DESIGN BRIEF

The feel of the restaurant is inspired by French railway stations and street furniture. It is intended to express a humane approach, using robust materials. Ron Robertson-Swann’s “Vault” and Ridley Scotts “Aliens” of 1986 were also influences. An active glass room rolls out over the building line during open hours and back into the building when closed, adding a dynamic element to the façade, while a stand up coffee quick service area is cut into the building line, and sheltered by a large bright yellow metal door.

Materials include rough slate, cast plaster wall panels, suspended concrete beams, raw timber finishes, coloured glass details and 1970’s Pirelli rubber flooring.
